11. Introduction
Welcome to Happy Medics (“we,” “our,” or “us”), a brand owned and operated by Maerfield Medical Limited. We provide high-quality, peer-led medical education through CPD-accredited courses, free educational content, newsletters, and study resources. By accessing our website and using our services, you agree to comply with these Terms of Service (“Terms”).
2. Acceptance of Terms
By using our website and services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
3. Services Provided
Happy Medics offers the following services:
3.1 CPD-Accredited Courses
Acute Medicine Course (AMC) — Our flagship course covering systematic diagnostic reasoning for acute medical presentations. Includes 14 hours of asynchronous video content plus a mandatory live teaching day. Accredited for 21 CPD points.
On-Call Essentials (OCE) — A course focused on systematic approaches to common on-call scenarios and emergency bleeps. Includes asynchronous content plus a live session. Accredited for approximately 10 CPD points. (Launching late 2026)
3.2 Free Educational Content
• Study Notes library on our website
• Diagnostic frameworks and clinical resources
• OSCE worksheets and revision aids
• Social media educational content
3.3 Newsletters
Clinical Decisions Explained (CDE) — Weekly case-based teaching covering diagnostic reasoning and framework application
On-Call Survival Guide — Practical tips and mnemonics for on-call scenarios
3.4 Future Services
We may introduce additional courses, workshops, digital products, and services. These Terms apply to all current and future Happy Medics services unless otherwise specified. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue any part of our offerings with reasonable notice.
4. User Accounts
To access paid courses and certain features, you may be required to create an account. You agree to:
• Provide accurate and complete information during registration
• Keep your login credentials secure and confidential
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account
• Not share your account credentials with others
We are not responsible for any loss or damage arising from unauthorised access to your account where you have failed to keep your credentials secure.
5. Course Access and Delivery
5.1 Asynchronous Content
Upon purchase, you will receive access to asynchronous video content via our learning platform (LearnDash). Access is granted for the duration specified at the time of purchase. Video content is hosted on Vimeo and requires an internet connection to view.
5.2 Live Teaching Sessions
CPD-accredited courses include a mandatory live teaching component delivered via Zoom. Live session dates are specified at the time of purchase. You are responsible for ensuring you can attend the scheduled date. If you cannot attend your scheduled live session, please contact us at least 7 days in advance to discuss alternative arrangements where available.
5.3 CPD Certificates
CPD certificates are issued only to participants who complete all required components, including attendance at the mandatory live teaching session. Certificates are issued through CPD UK and will be provided within 14 days of course completion. We cannot issue CPD certificates to participants who do not attend the live session.
6. Payment and Pricing
• Payment for courses must be made in full at the time of purchase
• All prices are listed in GBP (£) unless otherwise specified
• Payments are processed securely through WooCommerce/Stripe
• Early-bird pricing and promotional discounts are available for limited periods as advertised
• We reserve the right to change pricing at any time, but changes will not affect confirmed purchases
7. Refund and Cancellation Policy
7.1 Cooling-Off Period
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the date of purchase during which you may cancel your order and receive a full refund, subject to the exceptions below.
7.2 Exceptions to Refunds
Refunds are NOT available in the following circumstances:
Digital content accessed: Once you have accessed, downloaded, or streamed any digital course content, you waive your right to a refund under the cooling-off period. By starting a course, you acknowledge and accept this.
Live events within cooling-off period: If your live teaching session falls within the 14-day cooling-off period and has already taken place, you cannot request a refund after the event.
After 14 days: Refund requests made after the 14-day cooling-off period will not be processed.
7.3 How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, please contact us at support@happymedics.org.uk with your order details within 14 days of purchase. We aim to respond within 72 hours and process valid refunds within 5-10 working days.
7.4 Course Transfers
If you are unable to attend your scheduled live session, you may request to transfer to a future cohort (subject to availability) by contacting us at least 7 days before your scheduled date. Transfers are offered at our discretion and may be subject to a £25 administration fee.
7.5 Event Cancellation by Happy Medics
If we cancel a live teaching session or course, you will be offered either a full refund or transfer to an alternative date at no additional cost.
8. Intellectual Property Rights
All content provided through Happy Medics, including but not limited to course materials, videos, diagnostic frameworks, study notes, newsletters, and branding, is owned by Maerfield Medical Limited or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, distribute, reproduce, modify, or create derivative works from our content without explicit written permission.
Personal use: You may download and use free resources (such as the frameworks PDF) for your personal educational use only. You may not redistribute these materials or use them for commercial purposes.
9. Code of Conduct
Users of Happy Medics services must not:
• Share, distribute, or resell purchased course content or account access
• Record, screenshot, or capture live teaching sessions without permission
• Engage in disruptive, abusive, or harmful behaviour during live sessions
• Attempt to access restricted areas of the website or platform without authorisation
• Use our services for any illegal purpose
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts and revoke course access without refund for users who violate these rules.
10. Medical Disclaimer
Important: Our courses, study notes, newsletters, and all educational content are provided for educational and informational purposes only. They are designed to support your learning and professional development but do not constitute medical advice.
• Our content should not replace clinical judgment, local guidelines, or senior clinical supervision
• Always follow your local trust policies, NICE guidelines, and the advice of your supervising clinicians
• The frameworks and approaches taught are educational tools, not rigid protocols
• You remain responsible for your own clinical decisions and patient care
Happy Medics and Maerfield Medical Limited accept no liability for clinical decisions made based on our educational content.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
• We do not guarantee any specific outcomes, exam results, or career progression from using our services
• We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services
• Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific service giving rise to the claim
• We are not liable for any loss arising from technical failures, internet connectivity issues, or third-party platform outages
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Third-Party Services
Our services rely on third-party platforms including:
• Zoom for live teaching sessions
• Vimeo for video hosting
• WooCommerce/Stripe for payment processing
• MailerLite for newsletter delivery
Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms and conditions. We are not responsible for the availability, performance, or policies of third-party services.
13. Newsletter and Communications
By subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to receive weekly educational emails and occasional promotional communications about Happy Medics courses and resources. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each email.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. For significant changes affecting existing course purchasers, we will provide direct notice via email. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any issues before pursuing formal legal action. Most concerns can be resolved through direct communication.
